Food Drive Fundraiser in Philippines: Raising Funds for Don Carlos
Many families in the Don Carlos community of the Philippines have struggled with food scarcity and undernourishment before the pandemic began. The pandemic has exacerbated the problem even more for this community, making food insecurity a larger problem. A healthy and nourishing meal can go a long ways, especially at a time when families are put in unimaginable financial and health situations.
We are excited to announce our Food Drive benefiting those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic! This drive will be in partnership with Orera Technology, with funds going to meals that will be distributed in Don Carlos every Sunday starting on November 8th. In addition to fresh cooked meals, community members will have the chance to take uncooked rice home.
Meraki Society Foundation (MSF) cares about the well being of the people and our planet so to make our Food Drive environmentally safe, Orera Technology will be providing 100% compostable food trays made from bagasse sugarcane.
We will be collecting funds the next 4 weeks in hopes to raise $1600 USD / P78,000 PHP. 100% of proceeds raised will be used for food drive supplies and compensation for staff. If we are below the goal, any donations outside of the time frame will be used for this project.
The fundraiser will run from October 16th-November 13th, with the event to begin Sunday, November 8th. Funds can be donated directly to www.bit.ly/msf-fooddrive-2020.
