“Wherever I go meeting the public... spreading a message of human values, spreading a message of harmony, is the most important thing.”

Fostering Creativity in the Youth with Art Therapy

In the beautiful rural countryside of the Philippines, Kathreen Absuelo, the founder of Meraki Society, is providing children with the gift of art therapy through painting sessions. This is a wonderful way to empower and inspire these young minds while also promoting creativity and self-expression.

On this day, we celebrated the very first
Meraki Society Foundation Art Therapy” session.

Art therapy is a way to encourage creativity in young people. It can be helpful for children who are struggling with emotional or behavioral issues. Art therapy can give them a way to express themselves and communicate what they are feeling in a safe and supportive environment. By using art as a means of communication, children can develop a better understanding of their emotions and learn how to manage them. Art therapy can be a valuable tool for helping young people to develop their creativity and build their self-confidence.

Meraki Society met with students at Famador Elementary School in Maramag, Bukidnon and enjoyed a day of painting with our founder Kathreen Absuelo and volunteers, Gizza Yosalina and Charles Cabungcal. The team provided snacks from Dunkin’ Donuts (Valencia City) and art supplies for painting.

Imagine unlocking the creativity of students and giving them access to resources beyond their wildest dreams! Meraki Society is all for exposing the youth to new and exciting creative avenues. These children had a blast painting for the very first time. The team provided small sponges as painting tools and mat boards for them to paint on. Once their paintings were dry, the children brought their masterpieces back home to share with their families.

Thanks to generous donations and support, programs like these can continue to thrive and inspire young minds that will last a lifetime.
