Seattle Fidos Stay Hydrated at Dog Park During Winter Public Water Access Closures
The Meraki Society's inspiring initiative involves donating over 40 gallons of water every month to ensure our beloved Fidos stay hydrated throughout the winter season, when public water access in Seattle is temporarily unavailable.
As winter approached Seattle, the annual concern of pipes bursting due to the freezing temperatures returned. As a precautionary measure, the public water supply was temporarily shut down. In response to this, we decided to take it upon ourselves to help out in any way we could. We have been donating 40+ gallons of water every month to Magnolia Manor Park and will continue to during until Spring of the following year. Our primary motivation behind this act of kindness was to ensure that our furry family members, our beloved pups, stay hydrated during this winter season of play. We understand that access to clean drinking water is a basic necessity, and we wanted to contribute in any way we could to ensure that our fidos stay hydrated at the dog park in the next coming months.

Civil War Erupts in the Pacific, Prompts an Urgent Relief Campaign to Aid Refugees
In the midst of a civil war in the Philippines, Kathreen Absuelo, the founder of Meraki Society, took it upon herself to create a campaign that would bring hope to women and children who were separated from their families. Her efforts were a true inspiration to all those around her, and a reminder that even in the darkest times, we can still make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Through collaboration with their organization partner, Ateneo de Davao University, they successfully delivered essential supplies and brought comfort to the refugees. Their efforts serve as a shining example of how even in times of turmoil, kindness and compassion can make a huge difference in the lives of others.
Our esteemed founder, Kathreen Absuelo, had originally intended to follow her own itinerary during her trip to the Philippines. However, a month prior to her travel dates, the tragic Marawi bombing crisis occurred, which prompted her to realize that she had a unique opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the Marawi community. Despite being located halfway across the world in Seattle, WA, USA, Kathreen felt it was crucial to devote her time and effort to raising awareness and providing support beyond her daily routine. By doing so, she hoped to positively impact a significant number of people in the community, particularly the children of Marawi.

Upon arriving in Davao, she had the pleasure of meeting with the chairperson of the University Community Engagement and Advocacy Council (UCEAC), Mark Paul Samante, and the Administrative Associate, Mr. Dadong Gumatao, to deliver the goods. The individuals inquired about the possibility of arranging a meeting with Kathreen to meet with Fr. Joel E. Tabora S.J., President of Ateneo de Davao, to which she graciously acceded.
Efforts to assist the refugees affected by the Marawi Crisis were met with great generosity and support. Thanks to the contributions made by individuals and organizations alike, the aid was able to reach those who were most affected by the crisis. Every single donation received, no matter how small, played an integral role in ensuring that the refugees received the assistance they needed. The funds were utilized efficiently and effectively, with a high level of transparency and accountability in the distribution process. As a result, the affected communities were able to receive much-needed support and resources to help rebuild their lives after the devastating impact of the crisis.
